I'm a military enthusiest and plastic model builder looking for information on Russian submarines, particularly drydock and construction photos of the hull. My current project is an Alpha/Lira SSN. I've found some schematics revealing hull and propeller details, and one photo of an Alpha before being launched, showing the bow and port side of the boat, with its officers standing in front of her. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the photograph, since. I speak and read Russian to a limited degree. Any help on the subject would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you, I recognize the subject is offtopic and that was one of the responses I was hoping for. Do you know if they have a feature to aid English-speakers if this is a Russian forum?

Thank you! There are some excellent details there.

Are there any Russian Navy or submarine forums that you know of that would be willing to assist in my search?

There are such forums, but in general the public there is very reluctant to participate in non-russian language topics.

Hi,
Let's try this way:
1. You ask a question here
2. I'll translate it in russian and post it in suitable russian speaking forum, located in this web-site.
3. I'll translate an answer to english and post it here.
What do you think about it?

Hello Gabriel and everyone else in here,
I have some nice pictures of a dry-docked Alpha. They are in black and white though... And of low quality, but maybe they can be of some use to you. I also have some line drawings, frontal view included and I have a 1/400 Alpha model, but I don't think that one's very good.
I only know a few words of Russian, but it looks (when I can decript the Cyrilic alphabet to mine) that the Russian language is rather close to my (Dutch) language. But I'm hoping to learn Russian very fast in this forum, that was also the main way of learning English for me. I hope it works!

Проект 865

Hello everyone,

My name is Antoine. I am french.

I am currently building a RC model of the project 865 Pyranha.

I am looking for pictures of the real submarine, specially pictures showing the propeller. I still do not know what kind of propeller this submarine had.

I found many pictures on the net, but none of them shows the sub on drydock.

Thanks in advance !

Antoine.

For 10 years nobody came here. Greetings to you, a living man! :D

I'm afraid, during this time, very many components of the forum interface have become rigidly tied to the Russian language.

But still there are people ready to discuss about Russian submarines.
And ships :)

Are you sure about that? (: Looks like he's replying on pretty old posts only.

If it's just a coincidence - I guess it's ok for him to post in other sections in English.

I think user posts in right forum not knowing if it is allowed to post in another sections in English.
Quite reasonable behaviour at new forum.

No argument here. Thing is - he don't have to reply on those old posts.

It's a tactics widely used by bots, in order to increase postcount. Next step is ads, porn links etc.

Nah, I don't think it's too harsh. I don't even insist on my version (:

Not sure if I'm getting the logic. Why I'm so harsh if I'm not insisting?

I merely noted the pattern and suggested that he probably could freely post in other sections in English (not bothering with automatic translators, because these things suck anyway). I even upvoted his post from the get-go and did not accused him directly. All my other posts here are merely an explanation.
