Многоцелевой двухмоторный вертолет Ка-226 является улучшенной модификацией вертолета Ка-126. Первые четыре двигателя С20R компании Rolls-Royce (каждый имеет мощность на валу 450 л.с.) проходят летные испытания в России.

К настоящему времени эти объемы были незначительными, поскольку на ульяновском авиационно-промышленном комплексе «Авиастар» собрано всего пять самолетов Ту – 204 – 120. Один из них опытный, а четыре других приобрела египетская авиакомпания. До конца года в Каир планируется передать еще два таких самолета. Всего Rolls-Royce поставил в Ульяновск десять двигателей. Еще два готовы к отправке.

The objectives of the programme also include reducing the cost of ownership of aero engines. Fifteen industrial partners, two universities and two research institutions from nine European countries will participate in a four-year programme under the Efficient and Environmentally Friendly Aero Engine (EEFAE) technology programme, the European Commission's largest aero engine research project, worth more than 100 million euros. In addition to leading the overall EEFAE programme, Rolls-Royce will lead the work into one of two engine concepts to be developed - the 50 million euro Affordable Near Term Low Emissions (ANTLE) engine concept, based on a three-shaft engine design. 2000-01-08, Serge Pod: Pratt and Whitney denies report on merger WASHINGTON, Jan 3 (AFP) - 18:49 GMT - Aircraft engine and aerospace group Pratt and Whitney on Monday denied report in London saying it was considering a merger with British-based Rolls Royce Plc. "It's preposterous," said Peter Murphy, spokesman for Pratt and Whitney, a unit of United Technologies. "If they (Rolls Royce officials) are looking for a buyer, they know our number." The Sunday Business newspaper in London reported that investment banks acting for Pratt and Whitney had made a proposal to the board of Rolls-Royce for a merger dominated by the British company but the two groups had not yet held talks directly. The two groups had held merger talks five years ago but these had come to nothing because the chairman of Rolls-Royce, Ralph Robins, had insisted that his company should control the new entity.
